Self-Assessments

Cadets need to review their own performance within three operational team activities during Award One. Photographs can be used to support their evidence to help identify what they have been doing.

Social Action

Social Action can help address social problems that are important in your communities. This can include volunteering, fundraising, putting on or taking part in a community event, or simple neighbourly acts, and can improve people’s confidence and skills. Fire Cadet you must participate in at least three successful Social Action activities which will form part of UKFC Fire Cadets Award One.

External Accreditation

Fire Cadets aim to support the requirements expected by external accreditation bodies’ including, but not exclusively, BTEC, ASDAN, Duke of Edinburgh Award and Duke of Westminster. The Fire Cadets Award One has been cross mapped to the BTEC Level 2 Award in Fire and Rescue Services in the Community and successful completion equates to Unit One of the BTEC Award.

Fire Cadets who do not complete the workbooks may be issued a Certificate of Participation at the discretion of the local service.
