If you or anyone you know has any concerns about the safety of anyone involved in Fire Cadets please contact your local fire & rescue service first. Alternatively, you can contact our National Fire Chiefs Council Safeguarding Team here or by email safeguarding@nfcc.org.uk.
UK Fire Cadets (UKFC) and the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people, and adults, recognising that the protection and safety of vulnerable individuals is paramount. This means protecting and promoting everyone’s health, wellbeing, and human rights, to enable them to participate in our national Fire Cadet Programme safely and free from harm and abuse.
Whilst UKFC oversees the generic structure of our Fire Cadet Programme, each fire and rescue service is responsible for developing their own individual guidance, risk assessments and staff training to enable them to achieve Safeguarding Fire Standards and adhere to relevant safeguarding legislation.
To support this, the NFCC provide national framework documents to ensure that appropriate safeguarding arrangements are in place and in line with English legislation. Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have their own safeguarding legislative process, but they are comparative to those set in England.
Safeguarding is a whole organisational duty and must be embedded within its internal and external communities. UKFC and the NFCC are fully committed to the legal and moral duties that ensure safeguarding is practiced at the highest standards for young people, employees and volunteers, and that our organisational culture fully encompasses safeguarding.
